Fun Times and Inspiration

So we went to the pool this morning. I was feeling sick yesterday and today wasn't all that good either- so we had to skip on the whole beach thing and just do the pool instead. My kids really don't care- either way they get to play in the water and have fun. SO here's some fun pics from the pool today- they LOVE being thrown in the water.... they think it's hilarious. funny funny kids.

Also- here's a LO i did yesterday for a contest I'm in. I acutally like how it came out. I've been challenged with scrapping things I normally wouldn't- this is one time I wouldn't ahve done it- but I think it will be good to look back on. here's the journaling: (it's supposed to be a not to myself)
"This is your life, Are you who you want to be? You konw your life has taken some unexpected turns. But what would you be today without all those experiences? You are who you want to be and more. You're a mother, a wife, a friend, a daughter, an aunt. Even though your future is unclear now, just think of how many wonderful thigns are to come! Do'nt always feel like you have to say "yes" to everythign and everyone. Allow tiem for yourself and doing what you want. Be Patient. I know that's a hard one, but seriously...is it really the little things in life that matter? Keep strong adn remember a lot of people love you. That's all you need in life. Be proud of who you are and who you will become!"
AND.... I KNOW I did a major typo on my title. how freakin funny is that? Totally didn't realize it until the page was completley done and turned in.... lol- well.. that's what I get for scrapping when I'm really sick and havent' eaten anything eh? hahahaha

Something To Think About

I was browsing my long list of blogs today and came across this entry from one of my friends. It rings absolutely true and thought I needed to share it.

Somewhat unexpected from Jay Leno....

"The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right? The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the president. In essence 2/3rds of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, ''What we are so unhappy about?''Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day,7 days a week? Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter? Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job? Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?Maybe it is the ability to drive from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state? Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter? I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family and your belongings. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes , an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90 percent of teenagers own cell phones and computers. How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world? Maybe that is what has 67 percent of you folks unhappy.Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S. , yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have , and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks? The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me? Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad?Think about it......are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the "Media" told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day.Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go.They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an ''other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable'' discharge after a few days in the brig.So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans? Say what you want but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for -profit corporations. They offer what sells , and when criticized, try to defend their actions by "justifying" them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way......Insane!Stop buying the negativism you are fed everyday by the media. Shut off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country. There is exponentially more good than bad.We are among the most blessed people on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative.""With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, "Are we sure this is a good t ime to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"

Jay Leno

could this really have been said any better?

HUGE RANT........ and some good news!

Here's a story of what happened to me today..... it's long- but seriously, need to get it off my chest.
History: we live in an apt building wiht a pool. We go whenever we can- tons of fun. never had any problems at all the entire 3 yrs we've lived here. Well- one day the other week we were the only ones ther and this kid comes in. he's about 14 or so. He starts jumping and diving in the shallow area making huge splashes and showing off. Really annoying. he kept going and going, btu we were ready to leave, so i never said anything. we left. end of story- or so i thought. TODAY: we decided to go swimming again. really excited. We are usually the only ones there, but today- everyone and their dog with little kids decided to show up at the same time. So it was a pretty crowded pool, mostly really little kids. Ok- we can still have fun right? NOPE! just as we had been there not too long, this same kid comes walking in with 2 older women ( and by older I mean.... parent figures) and a bunch of little kids. He immediately runs and dives right into the shallow end where all the little kids are. Now- I'm sitting outside the pool just watching, knowing my blood is boiling just watching this kid. i decide to get in the pool. He continues to jump in, causing HUGE splashes, running and jumping over little kids heads and landing in the pool. Now- let me also mention that the deep end, where he could EASILY swim and jump and splash, was completely empty. He continues to do this. Well someone in the office saw him and came out and warned him about jumping in with all the little kids and told him not to do it anymore and that he would be kicked out if he conitnued to do it. The second the guy walks away- he runs and jumps into the pool (in the shallow end of course) and says " that guys old.. he's gonna die anyway- he can't do anything" keeps going and going like this. There are PLENTY of adults here that are very annoyed, but no one is saying anything so as to not offend his less-than-caring adults with him. I finally couldn't take it anymore. He jumped in and when he pooped up- i yelled at him and said "Ok.. now stop it. My kids are swimming here and I don't want you doing that near them anymore." he said " whatever." and walked off to the deep end. Ok- that was very rude, but at least he's in the deep end. he then decides to come back over to the shallow end and continue to cannonball over the kids. i told myself" if he does it one more time, i'm wripping his head off." and of course.. he did- SURPRISE SURPRISE! I lost it. I got up and yelled (screamed really) "That's enough! You stop coming over here and jumping into the shallow end. THere are way too many little kids over here that you are trying to hurt and I'm not gonna put up with it anymore. So stop!" he then says " I'm not doing anything, and besides, you're not my mom so be quiet." NO HE DIDN"T!!!!!!!!! I said " Don't talk to me like that- I'm older than you are and you are very disrespectful" By now... my DH is walking over to him and saying " You don't talk to my wife like that- do you understand?" his "parent figures" were just sitting there watching and not caring that he was getting chewed out. THey seemed pleased actually. lol So... I hear him say- "they aren't gonna do anything. No one is in there so they can't kick me out." So I then go on to say- " I don't care if no one is in the office. I'm gonna call first thing int he morning to make sure you never come in here again. What apt do you live in?" he then says " like i'm gonna tell you." DH then flips. goes back over to him and start getting up in his face "You dont' talk to my wife like that. You have no respect for her or anyone else here. You see all these little kids here? you can easily land on one of them and hurt them. THere's the deep end, go jump over there where you won't hurt anyone. And stop talking to adults like that. Not cool." he then says " ok fine." never aplogizes or anything. His parent figure then swims over to me and says "he lives in apt E8. and make sure you call tomorrow." I smile and say "thanks" It was funny cause ALL of the people in the pool stopped what they were doing to see these crazy white people yelling at this kid. He sat int he corner of the pool for a while then got up and left. All the adults hated it just as much as we did but no one ever said anything. Thing is- a kid like that needs to be put in his place- but you are also afraid to go too far as for fear of what he may be capable of. And living where I do.. that's unfortunately something you have to be careful of. So anyway- I'll be calling the front office tomorrow and if I ever see him come int he pool again. We'll leave. But it seriously boils my blood so much that I'm shaking. i can't stop thinking about how incredibly rude this kid is and how direspectful he was about all these little kidsin there that could have easily gotten seriously hurt by him.

ugh! the NERVE of people! (aka... dumb kids with no respect!)

on to some good news..... my friend ROXY is coming for a visit!!! WOOHOO!!! I can't begin to tell you how excited i am! I miss her so much and we'll have a smashing good time when she comes...... can you say " All night crop with a bunch of wild women with bottles of Jack Daniels and Margaritas?" ( I don't drink.. i just get to be in the same room with them and listen to their drunken humor..... HAHAHAHAHAHA)

My Poor Baby

Well... accidents are bound to happen. I've been dreading the first time my baby gets hurt. It finally came. History: See... older girl and boy like tp climb all over the place. Especially the couch. Our couch is facing the dining room- so there's no wall behind it. They like to jump over it and climb over it.. etc. Well- baby thinks she can do the same thing and she got the guts up to try it today. Yup... fell completely over the couch and landed on her head. By the time i reached her- she was gasping for breath and there was blood everywhere. Scared the heeby jeebies out of me!

So I ran her to the bathroom and washed her off- to find that she had bitten her lip clear through. In one side and out the other. Of course it was gushing and made me think that something else had happened, like her teeth getting all jacked up er somethin.

Anyway- got her all cleaned up, frantic phone call to mom too see if I should take her in for stitches, (she doesn't) and have her suck on some ice. She got a nice bump on her head, along with a nice rug burn, and a fat lip.

Poor baby!!!! I don't beat my kids.. I swear!!! :) lol
(she's getting so spoiled today.... makes me feel aweful!)

Contest Work and Tag

Ok- so I'm in two contests now. I made the first cut- so I'm gonna show you my creations. These challenges are getting harder and harder. I love doing them because I end up creating something that I typically wouldn't have otherwise done.
SO here ya go!
AND..... I got tagged by my girl Zarah so i must complete it!
7 Random facts about me.....
1) I am a self proclaimed CCD person. (Compulsive Cleaning Disorder) I pick up my house all day long!
2) I'm VERY lazy when it comes to making dinner. I don' tknow what it is- but I despise making dinner. used to be good at it. Now it just takes too long and it's so freakin' hot in my apt. that turning on the stove or oven turns our house into a sauna.
3) I love the rain. If i could go live in Seattle- I'd be set for life!
4) WHen it comes to planning parties or get-togethers, I'm all for it. I love organizing it all. but when it comes to organizing my time... I absolutely SUCK! lol
5) I find something funny in almost everything. Life's about having fun right? Why not laugh at it?!
6) I make up songs. Yup... i'll go around my house and make up a song to just about any situation I find myself in. Good thing I find myself funny...... makes for a more lively song making!!!
7) I love going on family outings. Don't ask me what I enjoy about dragging my 3 kids out to a grocery store... but just love having all of us together- regardless of what we're doing.
ok- I think those were random enough. Don't you? :)
now- I need to tag some people. Ok-
Lisa, Amanda, Jamie, and Roxy...... let's see em girls!!

Happy Daddy Day!!!!

We've had a wonderful fathers' day. Kids have been loving on their daddy all day and it's been great! We went to church, where they passed out candy bars to the dads... but there happened to be enough that they handed them to "future dads" and Kayleb got one. Then they still had enough that they handed them out to the mothers so that they woudn't eat the dad's candy bars. hahaha- it was pretty funnny- gotta love it. can't go wrong with chocolate!

Anyway- took some pics of the kids with daddy. They sure love him- as do I. Happy Daddy Day my love.... I love you!

More Photos!!!

Ok- so I had my second field trip today for my photography class. The assignment was to try to capture movement. She taught us about "panning"- which is literally focusing on an object that's moving while you move with it. (in simple terms). So.... the ones of my friends are using teh Panning technique. it's supposed to create a blurred background while keeping the subject mainly in focus. And of course.... i couldn't resist the whole temptaion of flowers and such- so i had to add them here just because!

So take a look at my web album- and let me know which ones you think I should use for my critique on Tuesday night. Thing is.... I can use the beach ones I took yesterday for my critique too. So out of all the ones you've seen- which ones do you like best?

(you can see my pics from the beach in the previous post)

Thanks!!! :)

Birthday and Such

So it was my sons 4th birthday on Monday. We headed out to the beach early in the morning. It ended up being cloudy and windy- but it was still fun and nice. kids still swam and we still had a good time. We came home and just had a fun time together as a family. Went out to eat, had some friends over to ahve some cupcakes and ice cream. Of course, Boy only wanted the frosting :) It was a good day- my little boy is 4 now and it makes me so sad:(
And being that I've learned some coolio things about my freakin awesome camera..... i had to try it out on my kids and the beach. One thing I've always wanted to learn was how to catch those cool pics of water falling and seeing all the droplets. I don' tknow why... it's just cool looking. So.. .I took this pic of boy pouring water and it worked!!!!! i had the settings right and everything! How cool is this pic?!?!?!?

Also... I was able to scrap a page from boy's birthday today. I did it for a contest and I quite like how it turned out. i ended up using product i've had for quite a while, made me happy :)
So here you go.... more eye candy!!!! :)-

My Photography Class

Ok- So i signed up for this photography class through a local college here. It is FABULOUS!!!

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am!!! I'm finally learning how to use my camera on manual mode and how to use the lighting and envirnment to my advantage.

So today was our first "field trip". Here is the link to my web album for my first pics using my newly found knowledge!!! I took 8 shots in 3 different settings. The first pic in each section is the correct lighting one. the second one is not enough light, the third is too much light.

Here's my dilemma. I have to choose 3 pics to take to my next class on Tuesday for critiques. Wanna help me decide?! I would LOVE your opinion. I need my 3 best shots. SO let me know what you stink so i can have a SMASHING review!!!

Spanx!!!!! :)-

Contest entry

I'm in this contest. And the challenge this week was to use 5 products, and 5 products ONLY. That is SERIOUS trouble for me. for someone who has to use as many things on a page as possible.. it was a struggle.
so here's what i did..... it's mostly paper- cause that's pretty much all we could use. These pics were taken yesterday too- my son.... wow- he's SO not normal. But that's why I love him so!
